Queen Ali is Alami’s boss and the ruler of the area the humans land on. While Queen Ali keeps a composed exterior, she is secretly riddled with anxiety and wishes she wasn’t queen at all. Her parents, who previously ruled the country, unexpectedly died shortly after she became an adult. She was left to rule alone at 38 years old. When the humans land on Keera, she is 80 years old.

Appearance-wise, she is larger than Alami, with longer horns and a taller height of 7 feet 2 inches, or 220 centimeters. She is also a Basergo, and has the traits typical of that species. Her eyes are more almond shaped, with thick lashes making her look like she has eyeliner. She wears a green dress. The color green holds a similar connotation on Keera as purple does on Earth. She has green gemstones tied around each of her horns, and a large silvery metal neckplate holding an large oval shaped green gem. The neckplate is the local equivalent of a crown.

Queen Ali is welcoming to the humans, a divisive decision among the populace. However, since everybody likes her, they decide to not object. Eventually, Queen Ali starts to divulge her everyday worries to the human Lea Key. Upon arrival on Keera, Lea had positioned herself as leader of the humans. The humans don’t have a set leader in their small group, but they decide not to tell Queen Ali that.

Like Alami, Queen Ali finds herself surrounded by people everyday. Unlike him, she does not like that. She is an introvert put into an extroverted role. Both luckily and unluckily for her, she is good at her job and beloved by her people. That means that nobody want her to leave. She has no heir, which creates some tension between the members of the ruling class. Most of them remember the deaths of the previous rulers, and they all do not want a succession crisis to happen. The members of her court and the nobility are already talking about who would replace Queen Ali once she dies, even though she is only the Basergo equivalent of a early middle-aged human.

A young neighboring Orokuhchee ruler, King Yaki, is also taking influence in her government with hope to one day take over her lands. I will talk more about him in the next post.
